Responsibility & Ethics

ZAË’s mission is to be as transparent and sustainable as possible. We collaborate with small and medium sized independent embroideries and screen-printing companies and we choose eco-friendly textiles. Currently, the companies we have worked with are based in western Germany and the Netherlands. We are still small and new to this type of business and we will work to become more sustainable over time.

The Marly Kamy’s unique products are made of second-hand, so they are even more eco-friendly as old clothes are recycled.

We believe in good quality and long living clothes, and that we should avoid bad quality and chemical mass production.

As we are still in the beginning stages, we would like to work together with more sustainable and independent manufacturers who have an innovative and sustainable view towards the textile industry in the future.

What we do for now

Products

The ZAË product line is made of organic cotton and they come along with several NGO certifications which ensure fair production, a reduced impact for the environment and great labour conditions.

Packaging

The products are shipped in compostable bags from noissue. The mailers can be reused and if no longer needed they are compostable in your compost. They will be gone completely after 6 months in your compost. Please think about removing the shipping sticker, before composting. We don’t use any plastic in packaging and we don’t have return forms inside the parcels – Returns can be filed by writing us at info@zae-design.com.

Commitments

# Production Responsibility – Limited quantities and no overproduction

# Transparency – We believe that it’s important to communicate about the composition of the clothes and the productions origin

# Recycling – Recycling is important and therefore we use a lot of  different ways to recycle clothes and other materials e.g. transport bags

# Sustainable packaging – We don’t use plastic and our products come within compostable mailers

# Support – We want to give something back to ecologically and socially engaged associations, even if we are pretty small

Some Tips to be more ecological

Washing

Use ecological detergents e.g. laundry soap flakes and wash them on a low temperature. Saves energy and extends the lifespan of your textiles! Do not use softners.

Drying

Dry your clothes outdoor or indoor on a clothes horse. Avoid tumble drying to prevent shrinking and wear off.

Reuse

Reuse the mailer your products came with and if you don’t need it anymore you can compost it after removing the sending sticker in your compost.
